Pre-TO/FW

Things have been getting busy around here in preparation for TO/FW 2012 (Toronto fashion week).  Here’s some shots from this past week.. you know, the party before the party.

Backstage…

Zombie Boy… Yikes!

ZoThis tiny tiny space is where the magic happens.

Okay don’t get too freaked out by the makeup… or no eyebrows.  They seriously glued them down and covered them with foundation. Crazy.

Handmade Heirloom

This has been the most time intensive quilt of my life  so far ever.  I started this beauty 6 months ago, hand stitching over 300 hours, and finished it a week after Christmas (note: getting better at finishing projects on time!) Pin It

Tuesday Tune

Hope everyone had a good Christmas.  Here’s a fav new tune my friend Jess over at Lookbook Cookbook introduced me to.

Lana Del Rey (real name Lizzy Grant) is a singer/songwriter from Lake Placid, New York, United States. She released her debut album, “Lana Del Rey” in 2010.  Here’s the single ‘Video Games’.

My Favourite Quilt So Far!

Sometimes I take on craft projects for the insane challenge.  I just finished my first hand stitched quilt! It’s a gift to my cousin who recently had a little baby girl.   I admit, I have a hard time finishing a project that takes more than 4 hours, but it was totally worth it (and only a month late!)

Also, I’ve updated the about section and started an Etsy store, HomemadeHomeDecor!

Pot Holders

Pinterest! Pin It

I made some pretty easy quilted pot holders.   These are a great way to try out your quilting skills.  I used a basic pattern but you could really jazz it up.  Here are a ton of ideas.5 layer sandwich – the top is the quilted square, next is an aluminum sprayed fabric which is heat resistant, 2 regular quilt batting and the last one is the back side of the pot holder.

Yup, I had to try them out right away! So I made some cranberry muffins.
